Semester 1: Principles of Design - Greeting Cards (Final Assignment)
I regret for not posting the final post for Principles of Design or else my grade wouldn't be so bad but oh well it already past.
But! I'm still going to post it just because to make my blog more lively. Moreover, easier for my juniors to basically read through my blog posts.
Anyhow, on the last weeks of semester 1, we were given our final assignment and were asked to do 5 set of greeting cards. Miss Lisa asked us to sketch minimum 6 themes to show it to her so we can narrow it down to just 1 theme. For mine I chose the theme vintage clothing.
Here are my other idea sketches;
*to be uploaded by this week*
After choosing a theme, we were then asked to create 5 different celebration and use the theme as our design.

[29/4/2013] Colour Theory Exhibition.
Sorry for the late updates.
On the 29th April 2013, we had our own Colour Theory Exhibition in the Design Studio.
Each group showcased their own colour theory project.
It was a successful one because lots of students and lecturers from different courses were there to see our works. We were all so proud of ourselves even our very own Miss Lisa.
Here are some pictures from the exhibition:

Here are some pictures from the exhibition:
The first group (Ailsa, Jamie, Zaina, Lisa and Afiqah) did their colour theory using balloons and covered the whole doorway with balloons so we have to go through the balloon tunnel. |
The other part of the balloons. It became smaller so we have to crawl when we get to the green ones. |
The 2nd group (Sarah, Maegan, Fariz and Nicholas) did cupcakes with colouring icing as their colour theory project. This was before the exhibition starts. |
There's like a gallery in there where they hang up few frames on the wall. |
The third group (Angie, Jean, Farah, Eka, Ching Hsin and me) did town houses. We have 6 different types of buildings from Malaysia to Thailand to Moroccan to Russia to British to Japan. |
How the balloon tunnel looks like from outside of our class. |
4th group (Hui Yu, May, Jun, Jocelyn and Raymond) did rainbow wishing tree. Those leaves are origamis made by them. |
They even provide papers and pens to let us write our "wishes" and hang it on the tree. |
Mr. Charles even wrote his own wishes. |
5th group (Hidayah, Jihan, Annabel, Atiqah and Mathuri) did ------- (I'm sorry I forgot what's it called) but I know when it spins you can see the effect trough the holes. It's really amazing. |
Everyone being amazed by it. |
Those cute cartoons were drawn by Annabel herself. It's really cute when you see the effects when it spins. |
The highlight of the exhibition was Miss Lisa crawling through the tunnel. |

Final Result.
So I'm finally done with my building project. It took me a lot of time to cute the mounting board according to the buildings. I accidentally cut my hand D: and my hand got really painful because I keep cutting papers using that blade thingy. But everything was worth it.
With the help of cereal boxes, it can stand without falling forward :D

Colour Theory Progress.
On behalf of myself, I would like to apologize for the hiatus of my blog posts.
I was busy with other assignments, I was neglecting my blog :(
Moving on,
Well as you can see we're still working on the Colour Theory group project which is due this coming Monday, where everyone will showcases their work in the class. As for my group as everyone knows, we're doing townhouses.
Since I'm doing Japanese styled houses.
I drew a Japanese temple and a Japanese palace.
Here's a draft of it;
Yes I know my temple is so high! It took me an hour to draw the whole thing. I had to borrow my brother (who is doing Architecture in Melbourne)'s 100cm ruler to draw all those long lines.

And after that we coloured it according to the colour wheel. Each of us has 2 colours.
Mine is violet and red-violet;
Now we have to cut it according to the shape of the building and mounted it on the mounting board. Then find a cereal box to paste it at the back so it will stand.

Colour Theory Group Assignment.
After showing our sketches (well mostly Jean's) to Miss Lisa. After much consideration we decided to go with TOWN HOUSES.
That's her sketch of it then Miss Lisa said something about town houses in United Kingdom.
Called the Portobello Street? Here's how it looks like.
I find it very beautiful because it has that vintage feel to it, as I am someone who find vintage inspiring and the colour they used is pastels which I find adorably cute.
So since we have 6 members in our group. We decided each of us to design a different type of style houses.
Like Ching Hsin is doing like an Arabic kind of house
Angie is doing Thailand
Farah is doing Victorian
Eka is doing Melaka
Jean is doing Russian (well I think she's still deciding between Russian and............. oops I forgot)
and I am doing Japanese style houses.
Since we have to do like 12(?) houses according to the colour wheels. So Jean told me to do like those Japanese's temples, palaces and traditional houses.
I was thinking of these.

I'll be designing a sketch of these 3 type of buildings. Then show it to Miss Lisa. If she approves then we start finding the materials and start building it? :D
I'm a bit scared and nervous to do it since they have a lot of pointy rooftops haha but I think I can do it? So 화이팅 for me!
