Photography 3.

How it looks like after editing it.

Photography 2.

So today we had the "photoshoot" in the photo studio in campus.
Of course, with the help of Mr. Vinod's photography skills, everyone's picture turned out well. Well not everyone since we didn't have enough time to do everyone's.

At least I got the chance to do it today :)

Hidayah was the first one to be the model.

It took us a lot of times to get the right picture. We had to be the make-up artist, the stylist and hair stylist. We had to like make sure the clothes is in the correct way. Her make-up and all. Even the lighting at the back and the sides!!

After everything was perfect and we got the good shot. Everyone was happy and clapping their hands lol.

Next was Maegan, then me, Lisa and Mathuri.

I couldn't take the others because I was busy being the "stylist" and being a model myself.

Mine turned out like this.

Everyone said it's nice, I still think something is wrong.

But I have to say my left hand was aching so badly because I put a lot of weight on my hand, but it was fun nonetheless :)

Now we have to edit it on Photoshop and show it to him the end result of the picture.

Photography.

Just wanted to share what we'll be doing tomorrow for Introduction to Photography class ^^

Mr. Vinod told us to search for a portrait that we want to look like back in those 1945 eras.

I chose the famous "Marilyn Monroe".

So we have to do exactly like what the pictures looks like. The make-up, the hairstyle, dress, the props they use and how they pose.

So to make myself look similar to that, I had to go to the salon and do my hair.
It cost me RM110 to make it look like her hair and it took 2 hours to finish.
She trimmed my hair, permed my hair and finally did the curls.

I even sit under that thing for a few minutes to dry the curls and make it happen.

and I ended up wearing that net so the curls will stay until this exercise ends. I have to sleep in it and I can'y wash my hair like at all :(

I borrowed a dress from my sister that somehow similar to it. Since Mr. Vinod said find a dress that shines? At least the make-up are just lipsticks, mascara and a bit of eye shadow. Phew ~

I got blabbered by dad because the hair was expensive and waste of money but I have no choice, it's part of the requirements. But it was worth it, I hope it turns out well.

Our Little "Exhibition".

Remember how I said we had to do paper cut outs for our last class?
Yeah, everyone brought theirs to class last Monday and we lay it all on the table around the classroom and one by one each of us has to tell her about it while she walks around each masterpiece.

Everyone did amazingly and of course I got criticized again because mine was wrongly done. Nonetheless, I learn something new on that day.

I brought my camera along that day to take pictures of everyone's work so I can post it on my blog :)

Here are their hard works:

Self-Portrait Based on an Art Movement.

It was our 2nd assignment. Where we had to do another self-portrait. This time she asked us to search for Art Movement and pick one that reflects us and do a self-portrait base on it.

There were a lot to choose from ALL the Art Movement I found on Wikipedia. Abstract Art, Romanticism, Symbolism, Cubism, Impressionism, etc. etc.

I ended up choosing Symbolism.

We did a 150 summary on it.

[The term "symbolism" is derived from the word "symbol" which derives from the Latin symbolum, a symbol of faith, and symbolus, a sign of recognition. Symbolism was largely a reaction against naturalism and realism, anti-idealistic styles which were attempts to represent reality in its gritty particularity, and to elevate the humble and the ordinary over the ideal. It was also a reaction in favour of spirituality, the imagination, and dreams. Symbolism can be used in different type of media; literature, visual arts, music, prose fiction, and theatre. In painting, symbolism can be seen as a revival of some mystical tendencies in the Romantic tradition, and was close to the self-consciously morbid and private decadent movement. The symbolist painters used mythological and dream imagery. The symbols used by symbolism are not the familiar emblems of mainstream iconography but intensely personal, private, obscure and ambiguous references.]

So I did like research on the painters who does Symbolism like Gustave Moreau, Edvard Munch and Gaston Bussière.

Their painting inspired me a lot.

Example:

Salammbô, painted by Gaston Bussière, 1907
Fernand Khnopff's The Caress
Europa and the Bull (1869).
Inheritance. 1897–99. 141 × 120 cm. Munch Museum, Oslo

So it got me ideas on what to do for this assignments.
It involves imaginary and metaphors images.

As I was doing this last minute (as usual) because I was busy.
I wouldn't have enough time to do the things I wanted to do.
So I was thinking of symbols. Like things that symbolise ourself. I was thinking of colours, since I love colours. So I chose that instead.

It turned out like this:

All the six colours has a meaning behind it.

Blue: Peace, Calm, Loyalty, Stability
Green: Environment, Nature, Healthy, Jealousy, Inexperience
Pink: Love, Romance, Caring, Acceptance
Red: Excitement, Aggressive, Passion, Desire
Yellow: Happiness, Joy, Idealism
Orange: Energy, Balance, Warmth, Enthusiasm

Then I mix the colours as the background. Pasted tissue as the middle part of the flower.

On the day of the presentation. I told Miss Lisa and the whole class about it and I got criticized by Miss Lisa. She said I could have done better. I knew on that day onwards that I have to work harder to survive in this course.

Miss Lisa taught me a lot actually, I just need to show her my ability to do better.
