I finally submitted my working drawings assignment today and we were told to take a proof shot of us putting our assignment in the submission box and here is my proof shot.

And these were the drawings we had to do. Based on our Interior Design Projects II project, we had to draw out a detailed drawings of our selected area.

Detailing and Working Drawings: Assignment 1 - Observation 'Journal' Part 5.

My last three best sketches is from The Library Coffee Bar @ Sunway Pyramid. This cafe is my favourite one out of all the cafe/restaurant I visited.

They had a really cool bar stool and it is definitely my best one.

The whole stool structure is welded and placed a cushion on the seat for comfort. The whole design and idea are really interesting. It may not be that ergonomic in terms of the depth of the seat and the back rest but the whole structure is ergonomic and well balanced.

This whole chair structure is made from timber.

This divider is pretty interesting as well. It creates an industrial feel from the inside.

My next best sketches are from Coffea Coffee @ Sunway Pyramid.

In my Interior Design Projects II cafe project design, I added a wooden platform. So I studied the detail of how one construct a wooden platform into a space.

A typical bar stool with a cool welded metal stool structure.

This built-in table is my favourite. How it is constructed and design is something I rarely see. The table top is supported with only two table leg stand at the front and it forms into a V-shape to become one and joined with the table top so it becomes balance.

My 4th favourite sketch is this chair from Carl's Jr @ Sunway Pyramid.

I measured and studied the chair in such detail that I used up all the space in this page. The upholstery cushion is screwed to the metal support so it doesn't move around. I thought the back chair support with the seat is screwed together as well but it is actually separated. The red upholstery fabric suits with the theme of the restaurant which is red.

My third favourite sketch is from Magnum Cafe @ Midvalley Megamall.

This cafe was one of my favourite. It had a lot of interesting and unique furniture/interior elements to choose from. I sketched 2 furniture and 1 interior element but this one is my favourite.

This built-in table is 4700mm long and how it is constructed is pretty interesting. The top table is supported by another timber plank that is nailed to the wall and is 1000mm in height so it looks like a one piece furniture.

Detailing and Working Drawings: Assignment 1 - Observation 'Journal' Part 1.

Before our semester break, we were given a task where we have to sketch 20 detailing drawings based on our Interior Design Projects II cafe project. We were told to visit different cafe and sketch 10 interesting and unique built-in or loose furniture and 10 interior elements of floor, wall and ceiling.

During our semester break (18/05/2015-22/05/2015), I took the chance to go cafe hunting. I have been wanting to do cafe hunting before and I finally get to do it with a good reason. Throughout the whole cafe hunting for 3 days, I got to taste delicious food/drinks and learn how detailing works in a furniture and interior elements they had in their cafes.

I went to 6 cafes in total. Madamme Waffle and Magnum Cafe @ Mid Valley Megamall, Coffea Coffee, The Library Coffee Bar @ Sunway Pyramid, Ode Art Cafe @ SS15, Subang Jaya and Oldtown Cafe @ Taylor's University Lakeside Campus.

As per asked, I'll be posting 10 of my favourite/best sketches.

The first two of my favourite sketches are from Madamme Waffle in Mid Valley Megamall.
The whole purpose of me choosing the place was because I wanted to eat waffle and they had pretty unique furniture used for the cafe. I sketched a few from this cafe and these two are my favourite

This may be a typical chair you see everywhere but the way it is built is something unique in my point of view. How the whole chair structure is using metal and weld it into a shape of a chair is pretty interesting. It's amazing how metal can do wonders for us.

Installing tile flooring is something I always find interesting. The steps you have to take seriously before placing the tiles are very precised. One mistake, and your tiles won't be place in a proper way. Other than that, it's very rare to see 100x100 tile flooring now so seeing this cafe had one, I just can't help it but sketch it out.
